LENT WITH WILLIAM CONGDON. TENTAZIONE DI GESÙ AT THE CHURCH OF SAN RAFFAELE ARCANGELO IN MILAN

Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 5:15 pm, during the evening Mass of the first Sunday of Lent, in the church of San Raffaele Arcangelo in Milan, the work by William Congdon “Tentazione di Gesù” of 1963 will be presented. The painting will be on display throughout the liturgical period of Lent until April 1, 2018.

It will be an opportunity for everyone, believers and non-believers, to meet a great post-World War II artist, who dedicated part of his work between 1960 and 1966 to the liturgy of the Catholic Church.

Tentazione di Gesù was painted by the Willilam Congdon in his Assisi studio  in 1963, therefore at the height of his sacred-Christian production. As usual, it was the current liturgical time to suggest to Congdon the theme of the work, which was in fact executed on March 21, that is, in the week between the third and fourth Sunday of Lent of that year.

The exhibition inside the church will start at 5:15 pm on February 17th.

Opening hours:
Monday-Friday: 9.00am - 6.30pm
Saturday and Sunday: 4:00pm - 6.30pm
