In this book William Congdon gives a personal account of his artistic and spiritual itinerary. The book begins in an autobiographical vein and becomes ‘theoretical’, while still giving critical descriptions of historical situations. It is both intimate and at the same time hugely expressive writing, where Congdon talks both about himself and about a universal vocation.
